Slice an inch off the bottom of the packaged enoki and discard it.
Take the mushrooms out of the package, lay them flat on the cutting board, and slice horizontally but lengthwise to create 1/2 inch thin "sheets".
Dunk each slice of the mushroom in water to clean it.
Place pan on high heat, add a bit of oil, and sear the mushroom slices on both sides so it becomes nicely golden brown.
Meanwhile, combine soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, sugar, black pepper, sesame seeds, and water.
Add the sauce to the mushrooms, coat every strand with it, and simmer until the sauce is reduced and thoroughly absorbed.
Garnish with sesame seeds, serve, and enjoy!
