Watermelon is an intimidating fruit, but here’s a quick and easy way to cut it so you can enjoy the whole fruit and not depend on pre-cut ones!
If you’ve seen the Watermelon Christmas Tree, you’re probably wondering why I cut it in such a complicated way. Honestly, though, I was just showing you how we did it at the restaurant. Additionally, kids have fun with the Christmas Tree-shaped fruit, so that’s for ya’ll parents out there!
By popular demand, here’s an easier way to cut watermelon. I’ll also be teaching you two ways that you can serve it~
As always, I am reminding you to do this with a sharp knife so that it easily cuts through. Alassuh??
Step 1
I forgot to do this in the video first but cut the ends of the watermelon.
Step 2
Cut the watermelon on the side or horizontally, against the lines.
Step 3.1
One way to serve it is to take one-half of the watermelon and peel the rinds. Clean out the white part depending on your preference. I like it clean, some leave it to eat like my mom, and some like to take the rinds and make it into kimchi.
Step 3.2
Once the watermelon is peeled, slice it in half from the bottom, then from the top, and cut the watermelon into cubes.
Step 4.1
Another way to serve is to slice the other half of the watermelon in half from the top.
Take a quarter of the watermelon and hold it up but tilting a little, then slice from the middle until you cut it all out into half-boat shapes.
Now choose your fighter~
Which one do you like? The cube or the half-boat-shaped ones? Either way, both are easy and bite-size, and your family will definitely enjoy them!! Knowing how to cut the whole fruit is a real advantage because then you can buy and use it in many different ways~ You can eat it as it is, you can sprinkle some Tajin – as recommended by so many people, you can add it into a salad, or you can try this watermelon juice!
