Hangang River is one of the major rivers across the Korean Peninsula. It stretches across three provinces and it even has divisions for North and South Korea.
Whenever you’re in Korea, it is a must that you visit this place. The stretch that hits Seoul has 11 parks across where you can do a variety of activities.
Some of the activities you can do are cycling, cruising, picnicking, water activities (changes during summer and winter), and sightseeing (fountain shows and fireworks are scheduled!). There are also several plazas and pop-ups where you can shop, cafes and restaurants you can try out, and play or hike in nearby playgrounds or hilltops. Han River is also close to Lotte World which you can visit for attractions or do a Sky Bridge Tour.
What I love about this is not just the activities you can do while you’re there, but there are actually stations and exit points from the subway that will help you easily access all these. The activities may vary per exit point, so best to plan ahead when you are visiting.
Another thing I love about this is that it has delivery zones. Since Han River is a well-known place to go to, there are actually several delivery points across its stretch for easy access for customers and food deliverers. This makes having a picnic or just having a good time easier for any visitors.
One Thing You Must Do: Eat Ramyeon at Han River
While being there and trying out many activities is fun, you must never miss out on eating ramyeon by the river. Koreans love ramyeon so much that in convenience stores, you can actually cook it on an electric stovetop.
This machine will help you cook ramyeon in a personal aluminum bowl that is conducive to electric heat. There is also a direct water spout that you can use for the soup. Among the buttons, you just select ramyeon and it should be good to go. Just get it once you are done cooking, but be careful as it’s hot.
The technology is amazing out here. For the love of ramyeon noodles, we got these!!! In the convenience stores, you can also get other snacks and drinks to go with your ramyeon, then you can chill out with your loved ones, soak in the view, and just feel the brisk of the wind.
To us, ramyeon is so much better here. It tastes different because there are memories that come with the place, people, and food.
My Favorite Memory Ever: Our Engagement
When I got to Korea for my business trip and vacation, going to Han River was definitely on my list of places to revisit. The reason was because this was the place where I proposed to my wife.
It was a simple date night. I had planned all this time to propose and how I did it was through chicken delivery. I asked the delivery guy to put the ring inside our order so when my then-girlfriend opens it, she would see it and I would ask.
When we got the delivery, I asked my wifey to film (her thinking we were just vlogging), and while she was opening it, she missed the ring! I had to take it out personally and finally ask her. She immediately said yes!
That night, we just got to talking about our relationship and the life we have and suddenly we are on to the next chapter of it. It was one of the best memories of my life. Now, I am back in this very same place, and I am with my now-wife and baby. Things have changed, but definitely for the better.
In 2022, I was presented with so many opportunities despite the pandemic and I had to turn some things down. Nevertheless, I’m glad that I worked hard, so I can take the greatest opportunity, which is to spend time with my son, and take care of him.
I am so excited for what’s to come for me and for my family. I hope you guys get to visit this place too and make good memories.
Ahnyeong~ Peace and sarang~
