Korean Spicy Braised Tofu (Dubu Jorim)

Ingredients

  • 400 grams Tofu
  • 1/4 of Whole Onion
  • 1 stalk Scallion
  • 1 pc Jalapeño Pepper
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Fish Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tbsp Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • Black Pepper To taste
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Sesame Seeds For garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the ingredients by chopping garlic, onion, scallions, and jalapeño peppers.
  • Pat the tofu dry and slice it into 1/2 inch thick rectangles.
  • Place the pan on high heat, add oil, and pan-fry the tofu for 3-5 minutes on each side or until brown and crispy.
  • In a bowl, combine onion, scallions, jalapeño, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, mirin, sugar, gochugaru, black pepper, and water. Mix this well.
  • Once the tofu is crisp on both sides, add the sauce and braise it for 3-5 minutes until it has reduced.
  • Plate the tofu, drizzle all the sauce on top, garnish it with sesame seeds, serve, and enjoy!
